The Child Safety Task Force is a diverse alliance of organizations, scientists and consumers promoting sound science and government testing of chemicals used in children’s products. We believe that confidence in toy safety can only be attained through proven science and approval from regulatory agencies of jurisdiction.

Our Mission

The Child Safety Task Force came together to serve as a resource for parents, consumers and legislators interested in the science of chemical agents found in our children’s toys.

Our members work diligently to ensure legislative proposals regarding chemicals in children’s toys are scientifically supported.

We believe that well intentioned toy safety legislation that is not supported by science puts our children at great risk by exposing them to potential new dangers.

The Child Safety Task Force opposes proposed state and federal bans on plastic softeners found in toys called phthalates (pronounced THAL-ates).

Phthalates are a class of chemicals that are used to make PVC (poly vinyl chloride) flexible that have been safely used in children’s toys medical devices and consumer products for more than 50 years.
